Wishing you a very happy Deepavali!

Dear reader,

In India this week, we celebrate Deepavali/Diwali, the festival of lights.

If you’d like to take a few minutes of needs-based reflection and celebration during this festive season, here are some prompts for you.

If you’d like to share your celebrations or intentions with me, hit “reply” to this email.

Wishing you abundance this Deepavali!

1. Quote of the week

The more accurately we label an emotion, the more effectively we become “unstuck” from it.

3. Video: Responding to judgements

Yvette Erasmus’ video shares what you can keep in mind while responding to someone who’s being judgemental—without becoming judgemental yourself.

4. Living with our mistakes

Psychologist Nedra Tawwab, the author of “Set Boundaries, Find Peace”, offers a four-step process to learning to live with ourselves when we make mistakes: Recognizing the mistake, taking ownership, accepting reactions and self-compassion.

She writes, “Sometimes we are self-critical because we have learned it, and sometimes it’s just a part of who we are and how we behave. Either way, we can work on it. We can change.”

5. Upcoming event alert

I’m looking forward to the screening of the movie “Women Daring Peace”, the story of two women—one from Palestine and the other from Israel—who are organizing meetings between Jews and Arabs so that each can learn to listen to the other.

Watch their story at the special screening organized by the NVC Academy. There’s no registration fee; the event is open to all.
