Five finds of the fortnight: Edition 27

What does healthy conflict look like?

Dear reader,

Every year, I set aside some time to learn something new for personal and professional reasons: so I can learn, heal and grow; and so I can bring more depth to the work I do.This week, I began studying a year-long course on resonant healing with Sarah Peyton. We’re only a couple of days into the course and I am fascinated by how it brings neuroscience, NVC and other modalities to help us accompany ourselves and other through challenging situations and trauma.

I’m excited about the possibilities. I remember reading a description of this work that said “make your brain a kinder place to live”— and that spoke to me.Do you set aside time for learning and growth? What are you focusing on this year? Hit reply to share with me!

Warm regards,

Ranjitha

1. Quote of the fortnight

It's dangerous to think of yourself as a hero and someone else as a villain. It gets in the way of empathy.

~Megan Ganz

2. Image of the fortnight

What does healthy conflict look like? This image reminds me of the distinction Miki Kashtan draws between conflict as a problem, and conflict as a dilemma: conflict is a problem when it comes between us and we are unable to see each other because it obscures our view. It becomes a dilemma when we stand beside each other and hold it together.

3. Article of the fortnight

I enjoyed this article which draws parallels between listening and editing: about how a listener can help bring out a deeper, richer expression from the speaker—just like an editor would with a piece of writing.Read the article here.

4. Video of the fortnight

When we begin learning Nonviolent Communication, it may seem awkward to us (and strange to others) as we begin communicating in this way—simply because it’s so different from how we usually communicate!

Here’s a video of Marshall Rosenberg explaining how you can prepare others for this change in your relationships.
