Five finds of the fortnight - Edition 8

Project Empathy: Daily listening circles for those impacted by the second wave of COVID in India

Dear readers,

The eighth edition of this newsletter was delayed because I tested positive for COVID and spent two weeks focusing on my recovery. I am now better, and grateful for my recovery as well as the support I received during my illness.

For the last four weeks, India has been experiencing the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. This has been a tough time for many of us. If you would like support in coping with the situation, please join us at our listening circles, which we have been holding from 7-8 PM IST everyday. More details below.Hope you and your loved ones are safe. With warmth,Ranjitha

1. Quote of the fortnight

“Our survival as a species depends on our ability to recognize that our well-being and the well-being of others are in fact one and the same.”

Marshall B. Rosenberg

2. On understanding grief

The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) has released a set of resources on understanding grief and coping with loss. While these are primarily designed for those who have lost a loved one, the suggestions also apply to those of us who are in a state of grief about the situation we are in now. 3. Dealing with difficult days

4. Online listening circles | Every evening, 7-8 pm

If you’d like support in dealing with this situation, if you would like to be heard for your experience in a non-judgemental space, or if you would like to be in community, our online circles meet every evening from 7-8 pm.

These listening circles are being held in collaboration with enCOMPASSion and with the support of 20 trainers and practitioners of Nonviolent Communication.

These circles are being offered free of cost, and you can attend by registering here.

5. Upcoming event alert

The third edition of the Global NVC festival will be held from 28-31 May. I’ll be at this festival, along with 30 other trainers from across the world. The program has a mix of sessions for beginners, intermediate and advanced practitioners. I’m particularly excited about the sessions on polarization. Will you join us?
