Five finds of the fortnight: Edition 9

On radical hope, and connection during difficult times

Dear reader,

How are you doing?

In India, the second wave of COVID-19 has continued, and several parts of the country have extended lockdowns. A few days ago, I came across this article by independent journalist Tanmoy Goswami on radical hope, and it gave me clarity and inspiration for the times we’re living in. You can read it here.If you’d like to connect or simply share how you are doing, please do so by responding to this email. You are also welcome to join our daily listening circles (scroll down for more info) to be heard for how the situation is impacting you.

With care,

Ranjitha

1. Quote of the week

Humans are not designed to live in isolation, it is very costly…perhaps the medicine of having other humans to hold us is given to us humans because of how much vulnerability we experience in our lives.

3. Book recommendation

I recently read “Have You Seen Marie” by Sandra Cisneros—a poignant book on a woman’s search for her missing cat, and how the search reflects her journey through grief. If you would like to explore the topic of grief, I would recommend you read this short book. And look at those illustrations! Here’s what I thought about it.

4. Ask me anything!

Earlier this week, I made a post on my Instagram account asking what you would like to hear from me about. So if you have any NVC-related questions you’d like answers to, or concepts you would like clarified, please leave a comment on my post, or send it to me privately (by Instagram DM) or responding to this message, and I’ll address it for you. You can click on the image to go to the original post.

5. Reminder: Daily listening circles, 7-8 PM

This is the sixth week since we began holding our daily listening circles. We continue to hold space for anyone impacted by the second wave of the COVID-19 crisis in India. It’s being offered free of cost. Click here to read more or to sign up.
